Poothara in Buddha Kalari.
The South-West corner off the Kalari, adorned with the POOTHARA,is the sacred seat of Kalariparadevatha. The Poothara or platform of flowers, usually made of seven semi-circular steps narrowing towars the top, looks like a crown and is always decorated with flowors. It represents the SAPTA MATHRUKKAL (The seven Mothers) who look after the world. BHRAHMI, MAHESWARI, KAUMARI, VAISHNAVI, VARAHI, INDRANI & CHAMUNDI are the Sapth Mathrukkal. The Thumba or Ocium flowers, Thulsi or the Ocium Sanctum leaves,Oil Lamps, are used daily in the propitiative rituals in favour of Gods and Goddesses of Kalaries. Buddha Kalari, an academy of Kalaripayattu follows all the rituals in the very traditional way.
