Dirga Pranayama: Managing the Anxiety Through Proper Breathing
Become more resilient to your anxiety triggers with this fundamental technique
Kown as “Yogic breath”, “Dirga pranayama” or “Three-part breath”.
Cristina Marie, a Therapeutic Yoga teacher and therapist, shares a Dirga Pranayama practice to bring you to a calm, relaxed state.
Dirga Pranayama is the gateway to all pranayamas.
Dirga comes from Sanskrit word that refers to something “long”, “deep” and “complete”. And that is the perfect description for this breath because dirga pranayama is truly a long, deep and complete breath.
Dirga Pranayama otherwise known as the Three-Part yoga breath really teaches us to fill our lungs to 100% capacity and in doing so helps us to cultivate a better Mind-Body Connection. It helps to promote a diaphragmatic breath, where we are breathing low and deep into the belly and the rib cage.
Check out the different practices and experiment and see which ones feel good for you and your body.
